  • While the number of African Americans and Hispanics in the government is not near the percentage of population, the numbers are increasing every year
  • We have an African American president
  • African Americans vote at nearly the same rate as the average population, but Hispanics are much lower (average around 60% registering, African American 58%, Hispanic 28%)
  • Encourage minorities to continue to become active in politics, possibly through schools
  • Push for voter registration drives and voter eductaion in the Hispanic community, possibly with bilingual voting ballots

  • 80.6% of African-Americans have graduated from high school in 2004 compared to 85.8% of Whites. The Black graduation rate has increased from 20.1 % in 1960.
  • 17.6% of African-Americans have graduated from college in 2004. It is an increase from 3.1% in 1960, but there is still more room for improvement.
  • 51.9 % of Mexican-Americans graduate from high school in 2004. There is much more room for improvement. It is sad that 1/2 of Mexicans graduate from high school in current times.
  • Only 7.9 % of Mexicans graduate from college in 2004.
  • However, Asian-Americans are doing well and are faring better than whites. 86.8% of Asian-Americans in 2004 have graduated from high school.


  • Encourage minorities to go to school and the benefits of education
  • More money for minorities in welfare will help because the kids in the minorities can afford to go to school
